Does Teeth Whitening Hurt?

In this video, Dr. Chris Powell explains whether teeth whitening is painful and what to expect in terms of temporary sensitivity during the process.

People often wonder if teeth whitening is painful. Occasionally, some sensitivity may occur, such as when I whiten my own teeth, I might experience slight sensitivity in one or two teeth. This sensitivity is usually temporary, lasting only a couple of days. The reason for the sensitivity is that the whitening process removes stains embedded in your teeth, leaving tiny empty spaces. It typically takes your body about three to five days to recalcify these areas. If you can tolerate this brief period of mild discomfort, you’ll be rewarded with whiter teeth and a brighter smile.
