Relationship between Dental Health and Aging

As human beings grow older and begin aging, it becomes more crucial to stress proper dental and teeth care. There is a popular misconception that it is inevitable to lose a tooth. However, it is incorrect as teeth can last for an entire life period if good care is taken.

As you age, there are changes inside your mouth too. There are nerves inside the teeth whose size becomes smaller. Thus, your teeth’s sensitivity to cavities and various other problems become less. But if regular dental checks are not carried out, these problems cannot be detected till it is very late. When you really want to look and feel good, you need to be fit and healthy and look good all through your life. A healthy mouth can make all the difference in your life. Aging doesn’t have to mean poor oral health

Tips to improve oral health

  • You should brush your teeth daily with a toothbrush that has soft bristles. An electric toothbrush may be also used twice every day for getting benefits.
  • You must use a flossing tool to clean the teeth well.
  • You should clean your dentures daily if you are wearing them.
  • Immediately quit smoking for your oral health. Smoking not only exposes you to a higher risk for various types of cancer including lungs, it also aggravates dental problems such as tooth loss, tooth decay, and gum disease.
  • You should go to your dentist on a regular basis for a thorough dental checkup.

Ashley who was my hygienist today did such a wonderful job on my teeth. I have gone in for cleanings before with other dentists in the area of Goldsboro and always come out with yellow teeth still.. I did not have any any kind of whitening done she just cleaned my teeth and I felt so good afterward .
