What If My Denture Is Loose?

In this video, Dr. Chris Powell explains different treatment options to provide retention to your floating denture.

If you’ve noticed that your denture, which you may have had for some time, is no longer fitting well, there are several solutions available to improve its comfort and function. One common method is a reline, which involves adding a thin layer of acrylic to the inside of the denture to enhance its fit. This adjustment is necessary because while the denture itself hasn’t changed, your oral anatomy likely has, altering how the denture fits.

For a more comprehensive adjustment, a lab reline can be performed, which is a similar process but typically involves sending the denture to a dental laboratory for a more precise enhancement.

However, if your denture is significantly old and the teeth on it are worn, it might be time to consider having a new denture made. This ensures not only a better fit but also restores functionality and aesthetics, providing you with a more comfortable and effective dental appliance. If you’re experiencing issues with your denture, please call us for a consultation to determine the best course of action for your specific needs.
