What Is the Implant Denture Process?

In this video, Dr. Chris Powell explains the process of getting implant dentures, from consultation and X-rays to surgery and attachment, enhancing comfort and chewing ability.

People often ask about the process involved in getting an implant denture. It starts with a free consultation at our clinic. During this initial visit, we take a specialized X-ray to determine the optimal size and placement of the dental implants. This information is then used to create a surgical guide, allowing us to perform the entire surgery digitally before the actual physical procedure, ensuring precision and safety.

On the day of the surgery, we’ll administer local anesthesia to ensure comfort, and then proceed to place the dental implants. Depending on your specific needs, this could involve installing four, six, or more implants. After the implants are placed, they need about six weeks to heal properly.

Once the healing period is complete, you’ll return to our clinic, and we will attach your new denture to the implants. This process is relatively straightforward and significantly improves your ability to eat and chew comfortably.

Overall, the entire procedure from start to finish typically takes about a month to a month and a half. By the end, many patients find that their quality of life has improved dramatically, with better chewing function and overall comfort.
